The State Associations in cricket in the country! are you listening ? Do you want your player or players in the Indian team ? All you gotta do is to copy the T N C A. They purchased Mr. M S D for a whopping ____ crores to captain CSK and see the result. Last three years saw more TN players in Team India than in the last three decades. MSD will see to it that the players are given chance after chance till they finally perform on a flat track to justify their inclusion.

MSD is a proven leader of CSK, but has to grow up a little more to marshall his resources in team india. How else could he explain his teams' tie with England, Scrape with Ireland and loss to S. Africa in the ongoing World Cup. His good work behind the stumps and in the media room deserve applause. But his bat has not done any talking for some time now. He has to explain why he sent Gambir ahead of Yuvraj or Pathan in the S.Africa match. He must also explain his love for Piyush Chawla and the wicket-less Harbhajan. Plummeting from 261/1 to 296 all out can be explained in non-cricketing terms only.

Colin Cowdrey, Clive Rice and Bob Simpson played till past their early forties, and I guess that must be Mr. tendulkar's next real target, not an Indian win. India had already lost the match when Sachin- Gambhir frittered away valuable balls, leaving nothing for the remaining batsmen. M S D seemed concerned more on Gambhir's return to form than a certain India win.

Crocs dont cry anymore but BCCI does!

It is funny; the Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) recently shed crocodile tears on three of its illustrious players who were not touched by any of the teams in the players' auction.

Look at the players:

1. Saurav Ganguly- The most successful & aggressive captain India has come across. Still a crowd puller with thousands of genuine fans. Every body seems to be afraid of Ganguly the man rather than the player.

2. Wasim Jaffer - The most prolific run-getter in the history of domestic cricket. Led and still leads Mumbai & west zone from the front. Poor guy does not know what wrong has he done to be treated thus, this in spite of a deodhar century this season. Most wronged India-player till date, shabbily treated after Mr. Srikant took over the selection mantle.

3. V R V Singh- the lesser mortal of the three. But not a bad player to be ignored by the IPL clowns.

The first two players above are any day better than a Mahela Jayawardene or the score of Aussies who have managed to come in through the ,Aussie coaches'.

This is where B C C I is making the biggest mistake. If it can not sell its genuine cricketers then why it should own the IPL circus at all ? Who the heck are these fading film stars and business magnates to decide who plays cricket in India ? If the hundreds of cricketers who shoulder the domestic (essential) cricket in India are not benefited by the IPL, then we can do with out the farce called IPL. It shouldnt be outgrowing the board or even the game.

These oldies arent goldies any more.

Mr. Chairman Srikanth can not but agree.
They had one and a half days and three oldies to save the match and all of them wasted the chance to become heroes.
Mr. Tendulkar is so engrossed in his book he forgot the state his team was in. But then how many years have it been since the little master saved India from a defeat.
Mr. Very(very) special Lakshman still lives in the shadow of that Eden Gardens innings some ten(?) years back.
Mr. Dravid couldnt produce an innings like in the past to ensure a draw when it was very much possible.
Mr. Sehwag never is interested in 'opening' the Indian innings. While playing for Delhi he bats down the order, but Dhoni refuses to get the message.
If Murali can can get the required number what is the 'better' Mr. Turbanator wasting his time(and ours) for.
We all know that we dont deserve the No. 1 test playing nation status, but there is always a better way of saying(showing) it.
Our Overseas performance is in tact, Mr. Dhoni.
But the chairman should be the happiest, for he can play M.Vijay now and get a Chennai applause.
The better 'longer version' players are putting their boots back for yet another Ranji season, but for what ?
One century in an IPL flat track game is better than a hard-earned thousand runs in domestic cricket season, is it not Mr. Sreekanth.

At it at it again.

Yes Sir Mr. Srikanth, you are at it again. The Rest of India team for the Irany Cup was the easiest for you in recent times, because Wasim Jaffer is automatically on the other side leading Mumbai. Hats off to you for managing 3 from TN ( a fourth in the form of DK would not have raised any eyebrow) in the ROI team including a vice captain. What if Sehwag opts out at the last minute( has he proved his fitness ?) wow! Badri to lead ROI by default. Great idea Mr. Sreekanth. The teams for Challenger series also have surprises. No Sachin , no Dravid the come-back wall( for the umpteenth time please no more walls for us. Let the score board tick ahead) and Dinesh Kartik. May be they are bigger than the system so have been rested. The inclusion of Wasim Jaffer in India blues is welcome. Finally a recognition after almost one year for leading from the front both Mumbai in Ranji and West zone in Deodhar. It is rather sad that some players by convenience are branded as test cricketers not good enough for ODIs or T20. The sadder part is they are never tried. During Sreekanth's time there was no 2- team business for ODIs and tests. Had branding been there he would never have played for India. A little introspection would therefore help Mr. Srikanth and co. before they are at it again.

Chinese revolution

Today's dailies carried the news about physical education revolution in China after introducing one-hour compulsory program in Schools. It is also revealed that till now there existed only voluntary program as well as specialist training for elite athletes. Suddenly the chinese govt. has developed concerns over the fitness level of its people, hence the introduction of the one-hour program in schools.
Down here at the southern state of Kerala is an institution called NIT Calicut which has Physical Education as a compulsory entity in its Engg. curriculum since 2002-03. The Scheme & Syllabus for the compulsory one-credit course in physical education was designed by me during 2002. The course consists of initial class-room contact session followed by pursuing any choice activity by a student under professional guidance for a period of one month, which will help him learn/ master a game/ activity.
The program has over the years become such a hit that the participation % of students in NIT Calicut has touched an all time high of 52%. The specialist coaching of teams and participation in various levels of tournaments run parallel. Ask our students to know more.

To err is human.

Mistakes can be made but never let them happen. Also take pride to admit them and take care not to repeat them. Mistakes get worst when committed in haste. Ask the Gujarat govt. how it felt when the High Court lifted the ban of Jeshwant book on Jinnah. Took a look at Kerala CM, Mr. V S Achuthanandan's face after his ambitious Munnar demolition project; saved, shaved and in tact ? Time is not yet ripe to write about the fatal mistakes committed by so many that ended in the tragic end of one of the best politician-statesman of India.
The B C C I, the richest sports body on the globe(that is because the I O C keeps only 8% of its revenues with it and distributes 92% among the needy) has this special ability to continuously commit bigger mistakes called Blunders. The most recent one is its decision to unilaterally detach itself from International Management Group(IMG) from future IPLs when actually there exists a 10-year contract. Fortunately, its former president Mr. Sharad Pawar has intervened and better sense might prevail preventing any legal tangle on the IPL.
Less said the better about the selection committees appointed by B C C I who act as brand ambassodors of Blunders Inc. Their main draw-back is the lack of guts to signal the Icons the right time to quit. How else could one explain the over-exposure of Kumble the Captain when he actually was a liability to the team, the recent recall of Mr. Wall(?) and we reach the ultimate Icon of them all. Nobody dares to show him the door, only he decides to quit. The selectors bend like Beckam in front of him, but a nice person, he minds his own business and not the selectors' even if they are nuts.

Adding new dimensions

Well; I started blogging as a consultant. I am now bifurcating to research area as well. Though my consultancy activities will continue, I will also devote some time to research. A few enthusisastic research scholars have enrolled under me to do Ph. D study at Yenepoya University( Mangalore, Karnataka, India) and Vinayaka Missions University(Salem, Tamilnadu, India). I am keeping my class room open for a few more scholars.
The present consultancy work that I am undertaking is the construction of the Cricket field with environ. friendly spectator galleries. The Cricket ground will have 3 turf match strips and 4 net practice strips. The pitches will be laid by me. The ground shall be of 80 mtrs. boundaries all round qualifying it for International matches. The cricket facility costing about 50 lakhs of INR is coming up in my own almalter, the National Institute of Technology Calicut.
The loss of a man of the masses is overshadowing every thing right now, hence I will close this posting by remembering the late Y S Rajashekhara Reddy, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister. The news has come as a shock to all who have been astonished by him in the recent elections that he swept. Just 60 years old, extremely young for an Indian Politician, he had been the messiah for the Congress and was just starting to stabilise his rule when he met with the trajic air crash. Let me offer my prayers and close this posting but not with out my doubts on the kind of security that a Chief Minister of a state in India gets. Did nobody warn about the horrific weather or was there an element of sabotage ?
